TWH Chronicles: Basso SV — The Signature Series Act II
Basso Bikes | Custom Carbon | Italian Craftsmanship
The Basso SV (Sempre Veloce) is more than a racing machine. It is the embodiment of the "Ride Perfected" philosophy that has defined Basso since 1977 — a marque that builds for the rider, not for the peloton's marketing calendar.
Hand-built in Italy and designed with an uncompromising commitment to the true cycling experience, the Basso SV is why The Wheelhouse chose this brand as a cornerstone of our carbon lineup. When we visited the Bassano Club House and met the team behind the bikes, we understood immediately: this is a brand that shares our values of continuity, consistency, and bespoke excellence.
The Signature Series Act II: A Tribute to Bassano
Designed in collaboration with Munich-based graphic designer Mirko Borsche — known for his work with Nike, Supreme, and Balenciaga — the Signature Series Act II is a tribute to Basso's hometown of Bassano del Grappa. A sleek black and white scheme, accented with metallic branding and distinctive pink "Giro" details, captures the rich culture and inspiring landscape of the Veneto region.
Sempre Veloce — Always Fast. The SV is engineered to deliver speed across all riding scenarios, from pristine tarmac to the rougher surfaces of real-world riding. This is not a bike built for the velodrome alone; it is built for the roads you actually ride.
The Bassano Clubhouse Experience
Our partnership with Basso was solidified after visiting the Bassano Club House and meeting the team firsthand. Seeing their meticulous construction methodology and the vibrant community they have built confirmed that Basso shares our vision entirely. The Clubhouse is not merely a shop — it is a global hub for passionate cyclists, bridging nations and industries.
This is the same vision we hold at The Wheelhouse: a place where the love of cycling transcends geography, where a rider in Calgary receives the same bespoke attention as one in Milan or Tokyo.
Continuity and Consistency: The TWH Approach
At The Wheelhouse, our philosophy is built on Continuity and Consistency. We cultivate direct relationships with brands like Basso that share our commitment to delivering special, bespoke products for our clients. By meeting the teams behind the brands — in their workshops, on their roads, at their club houses — we ensure that every custom build we deliver meets the highest standards of quality and authenticity.
Whether you are in Calgary or ordering from across the globe, our process ensures that your Basso SV is tailored to your exact specifications, reflecting the same passion and precision we witnessed in Bassano del Grappa.

Start Your BuildThe Finishing Details
A Wheelhouse build is considered at every millimetre. The frame and groupset define the machine's character, but it is the finishing kit that reveals the builder's intent. Each component below was chosen deliberately — not from a spec sheet, but from a shared understanding of what this particular bike and this particular rider deserved.
Wheels
Partington's Custom Wheelset
Hand-built by Partington's, these wheels were specified to complement the Basso SV's race geometry — stiff where it matters, with the right balance of weight and compliance for long days at pace. A bespoke wheelset for a bespoke build.
Brake Rotors
Carbon-Ti X-Rotor
Carbon-Ti's rotors combine a carbon spider with a titanium braking track — saving significant weight over steel while maintaining consistent, fade-resistant braking performance. A detail that only a close inspection reveals, and exactly the kind of choice that defines this build.
Bottle Cages
Kogel — Silver
Kogel's cages in a precise shade of silver that lifts the entire build. Against the Basso SV's graphic treatment, the metallic finish adds a purposeful contrast — making an already striking machine look even more racey. The right cage in the right colour is never an accident.
