IDMatch bike fitting in Calgary — the markerless 3D fit

The Wheelhouse runs the IDMatch 3D bike fit in Calgary. IDMatch is the first markerless bike fitting system: it scans you and your bike with 3D cameras rather than attaching sensors to your body, and it is the system we use for every fit we do.

What an IDMatch bike fit is

Older fitting systems either rely on plumb lines and a trained eye, or on markers and sensors stuck to your joints. IDMatch does neither. It captures you in three dimensions and analyses how you actually stand, how your foot loads, how your pelvis rotates and where your asymmetries are — before you ever turn a pedal.

It then does something no other system does as well: it scans your current bike and automatically sets up the fitting jig to match your existing position. You start from the position you ride today and move from there, rather than starting from a neutral position that has nothing to do with your bike.

What happens in the session

  1. We talk first. Your riding, your history, your injuries, what hurts and what you want out of the bike. This is not a formality.
  2. IDMatch system overview and scan. We walk you through the system and scan how you stand, your foot posture and stability, your pelvic rotation and any asymmetry.
  3. Your current bike is scanned. The jig is set to replicate your existing position exactly, so the changes we make are measured against what you actually ride.
  4. Cleat set-up and foot activation. The foot is where the power goes and it is the most neglected part of bike fitting. We get your cleats and foot position right first.
  5. Optimal riding position. Saddle height, setback, reach, bar width and drop, optimised in real time on the jig so you feel each change before anything is swapped on your own bike.
  6. Saddle pressure mapping and bike selection. We map pressure and use a database of over 4,000 bikes to identify what actually fits you.

What you leave with

A personal fit report containing your measurements and position data. You can take it to any bike shop in the world and buy a bike that fits you, rather than one that happened to be on the floor. You do not have to buy a bike from us to use it.

Bike fit pricing in Calgary

An IDMatch bike fit at The Wheelhouse is CAD $399. The session takes approximately two hours. For comparison, other Calgary fitters charge between $150 and $430 for sessions that are shorter, use less instrumentation, or do not scan your existing bike.

Why IDMatch rather than a conventional fit

  • Markerless. No sensors stuck to you, so nothing changes how you move during the capture.
  • It starts from your bike. Most systems start from a neutral position. IDMatch starts from the bike you already ride.
  • It measures your feet. Cleat position and foot stability are addressed directly rather than assumed.
  • It produces a portable report. The output is yours and works anywhere.
